I was skeptical about the hard cover being worth the extra cost, but it's actually perfect for keeping the surface clean between uses. The heat distribution across the 36-inch surface is so even that I can cook pancakes on one side and bacon on the other without any hot spots.

The cooking surface is enormous — I cooked breakfast for six people with room to spare. The hard cover makes it easy to protect between uses, and cleanup is straightforward.

The hard cover locks on tightly and keeps the cooking surface clean between uses, which is a huge plus for me. The 36-inch surface has plenty of room for pancakes and bacon without crowding.
